IABC Ottawa: Building a Stronger Community (End of Season Event)

Celebrate IABC Ottawa’s 40th Anniversary and Communications Excellence at our End of Season Event!

Wow, what an incredible season it’s been! We’ve partnered up with Shopify, got an exclusive peak at Canada’s 150th from Mayor Jim Watson and Guy Laflamme, celebrated winter holidays with Creative Mornings Ottawa and WCT, learned about employee engagement from an award-winning communicator and IABC Fellow Priya Bates… and the list goes on!

All of this was possible due to your support – our members, friends, partners, and our tireless volunteers who worked hard behind the scenes. THANK YOU for your commitment to IABC Ottawa this year and for the past 40 (!!!) years. We owe our strength, success and longevity to you.

So please join us on June 22nd for a night of celebrations! We will start with a cocktail hour with complimentary drinks and delicious appetizers; continue with an AGM, during which we will report on the successes and challenges of the past year, and vote in a new Board for 2016/2017. We will also present the following awards to honour Ottawa’s exceptional communicators and dedicated IABC Ottawa volunteers:

  • Communicator of the Year;
  • Member Distinguished Service;
  • Volunteer of the Year; and
  • The Rick Green Award.

We will then hear from the Communicator of the Year and Awesome Ottawa trustees Jason Cobill and Michelle Thompson who will talk about communications, community, and excellence.

The event will end with more networking, drinks, fun photos, and prizes!

Meet our speakers:

Jason CobillJason Cobill’s creative passions lead him into exciting adventures at home and abroad. Celebrated for his work in film, mobile, web, and most recently colouring book publishing, Jason’s muse is often his hometown, Ottawa. Becoming a trustee of Awesome Ottawa has given him an outlet for his excessive enthusiasm and a way to pay the city back for all it’s given him.

Michelle Thompson

Michelle Thompson is a Torontonian, who moved to Ottawa to pursue a career in Education. When not in the classroom, she can be found volunteering around town with organisations like Soup Ottawa and Girl Guides of Canada. She is also an Awesome Ottawa trustee who can’t help but feel that the monthly $1000 they give away helps to make Ottawa more, well, Awesome!
