Established in 1994, the Canadian Council of Human Resources Associations (CCHRA) is a collaborative effort of human resources associations from across Canada, which represents more than 41,000 professionals, 22,000 of whom hold the Certified Human Resources Professional (CHRP) designation. The CCHRA is the national voice on the enhancement and promotion of the profession across Canada, through established and credible designations, collaborating on national issues related to the profession, leading federal government relations, and proactively positioning the national human resources agenda at the international level. Communications Manager

Located in our national office in Ottawa, Ontario, this experienced communications specialist will develop and implement internal communications plans for CCHRA and will support CCHRA and Member Association external communications and marketing activities to help us bring awareness of the profession and the designation to the next level. Reporting to the CCHRA Executive Director, and working with the Board of Directors and association executives from across Canada, you will support outcomes from Board meetings by developing thorough issues summaries for communications with Member Associations, and will ensure the clarity and timeliness of CCHRA materials and internal documents distributed to Board Members. The incumbent will identify and apply web based technology to enhance access to electronic communications and documents by the Board, Committee Members and employees. By utilizing the most appropriate media, you will proactively ensure effective communications with targeted external audiences, and in supporting CCHRA’s strategic direction and business plan.

Prospective candidates should have a college diploma or university degree in Communications, Business, Marketing, English, Journalism, Public Relations or a related discipline and have a minimum of five to ten years of experience in communications, strategic planning, marketing and/or management disciplines including work with traditional and social media. Experience in Association, not-for-profit and/or credentialing organizations would be beneficial. Strong communication, collaboration and project management skills are critical, as is the ability to effectively and diplomatically respond to sensitive issues and complex inquiries. Demonstrated experience across the communications and marketing mix including social media and emerging electronic media platforms is required. Bilingualism (English and French) would also be an asset.
