On Thursday, January 28th, IABC Ottawa hosted its annual Networking in the New Year event at the Sens House Sports Bar and Grill. With double the attendees from the year before, the popular event sold out in just 10 days!
The speed-networking format came with a twist this year with the 60 guests staying put and the seven industry leaders rotating from table to table to share their insights, answer questions and introduce new ideas.
Attendees were able to strengthen their industry knowledge and grow their network thanks to speakers Stephen McGill, president and creative director of McGill Buckley; Dominique Jolicoeur, digital marketing advisor for the Canadian Medical Association; Kristine D’Arbelles, public affairs manager for CAA National; Sharon Prophet, senior account manager for Fifth Story; Kelly Kubrick, president and owner of Online Authority; Nader Shureih, director of marketing and sales for Purple Urchin; and Louisa Taylor, Refugee613’s director (volunteer opportunities available here).
IABC Ottawa thanks Fifth Story for sponsoring the event and for its continued support of the communications community. With this generous support, we were able to offer low cost tickets, starting at only $5, and free professional headshots for IABC members.
“This has been another great year for IABC Ottawa, and we couldn’t do it without our volunteers and members,” said chapter President Sherrilynne Starkie during her presentation.“We are working to design our events to maximize member value by bringing ticket prices down and providing perks like the free headshots.”
Thank you to everyone who came out. We hope you enjoyed the night as much as we did hosting it!
