PD Event Recap: 2014/15 Season Preview Social

By Brittany Skinner

Every year as the cold weather creeps in, and the geese make their way down south, many Canadians question their sanity for not following suit and moving someplace warmer, or else convince themselves that this will be the year that winter will forget to visit Canada. As summer turns to fall, days become shorter, traffic becomes heavier and the general mood tends to spiral downward as people daydream about their summer adventures that have come and gone. However, on Tuesday September 30, 2014, The Pour House saw nothing but smiles as communicators from across the city made their way to IABC’s season preview social.

Over the course of the two hour event, attendees (both old and new) took the opportunity to catch up and network with one another over delicious food platters and cocktails.  It was great to see a diverse range of attendees that ranged from members to non-members, board members to students and volunteers and even a group from the Digital Strategy Conference taking place in Ottawa, who all enjoyed one another’s company and took advantage to re-connect after a summer off.

After being welcomed and given some time to grab a bite to eat and mingle with one another, attendees were introduced to the 2015/2016 Board of Directors. IABC Ottawa President of the Board of Directors, Tara Lapointe, then gave an overview of the past season, whose highlights include being awarded the title of large chapter of the year, and discussed some of the numerous benefits of being an IABC member (which include access to an international network; access to members-only events; discounts and more). Following the short but sweet set of speeches, attendees then resumed their conversations before packing up to head home after yet another great IABC event.

We would like to thank all of our sponsors as well as everyone who joined us at the Season Preview Social, and we hope to see you soon at one (or more) of our upcoming events, which include:
