Senior Communication Consultant – Mercer

Senior Communication Consultants partner with clients and professional colleagues across Mercer’s internal lines of business, to provide expert communication consulting advice, from strategy to implementation.

To fulfill this role, the Senior Communication Consultant will:

  • Provide leadership in new business development and revenue generation for the
    communication business, through the:

    • acquisition of new clients,
    • cross-selling to current clients, and
    • extension of current client engagements to new activities,
  • Consult with clients to design and implement communication strategies to support HR program delivery and organizational change initiatives
  • Ensure that Mercer’s Communication offerings are leveraged for clients to add value
  • Manage both mid and large communication projects involving change initiatives, technology applications or multi-media approaches
  • Manage diverse project teams of Communication professionals.
  • Manage Communication budgets – client and internal
  • Provide thought leadership and contribute to the ongoing development of the intellectual capital for the Communication practice


  • BA in Communication, Journalism, Human Resources, or related studies
  • 8 or more years of experience in the communication industry (for example, consulting, HR,
    internal, corporate or HR communication, public relations)
  • Exposure to, or experience with, a variety of human resource programs such as compensation,
    group benefits, pension plans and mergers and acquisitions
  • Two or more years of people management experience
  • Strong budgeting experience
  • Strong marketing and business development skills, with the ability to sell communication services and generate revenue
  • Experience with the public service or Crown corporations an asset
  • Experience in identifying, developing, recommending and implementing innovative change communication solutions
  • Presence and authority in dealing with people at all organizational levels
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills
  • Solid organizational and project management skills
  • Bilingual in French and English an asset
